Working closely with real estate developers, owners, lenders and investors, Mr. Leardo offers investment advice in the acquisition, structuring and business plan execution of all types of investments.

A recognized expert in mergers and acquisitions, workouts and restructurings, Mr. Leardo brings a wealth of organizational and industry expertise to this role, including more than 35 years of experience in the real estate industry, 10 of which were spent as Chief Operating Officer for a major northeast development and syndication firm.

Before forming Domain Capital Advisors in 2008, Mr. Leardo spent more than 22 years in various management roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), including Partner in Charge of the Global Real Estate Advisory practice, which he founded in 1986. Under his direction, the business grew globally to include 450 people, with 44 offices in 16 countries. While in this role, Mr. Leardo led the U.S. and Canada practice, oversaw local leadership in Europe and Asia and developed strategic core services in the areas of Capital Markets/Asset Advisory, Valuation, and Restructuring.

Prior to the merger of Pricewaterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand in 1998, Mr. Leardo was the real estate industry chairman for Coopers & Lybrand’s real estate activities, where he coordinated all lines of service, including audit, tax and consulting. Previously, Mr. Leardo was a Principal of a major New York-based real estate developer, owner and operator.

Mr. Leardo participates in a number of associations, including the Pension Real Estate Association, National Realty Committee and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. Mr. Leardo recently completed a term as an Urban Land Institute Foundation trustee and has been invited to serve as one of the organization’s governors. He is also a Trustee and the Chair of the Finance Committee for Roanoke College. Mr. Leardo served as Lead Independent Director for Griffin-American Healthcare REIT II, Inc., which was successfully sold in 2014. He holds the prestigious ‘Counselor of Real Estate’ designation and was honored by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors as a Fellow in May 2006. Previously, Mr. Leardo served as a Board Trustee for the American Seniors Housing Association.

Joe Sanderson

Prior to joining Domain Timber Advisors, Mr. Sanderson’s career included 16 years at Plum Creek Timber Company, Inc., a timberland owner and manager, as well as a forest products, mineral extraction, and property development company. Over the years, Mr. Sanderson’s responsibilities at Plum Creek included assisting in the on boarding of the 867,000 acre Champion acquisition, the 905,000 acre Sappi acquisition in Maine, where he served three years as timberland superintendent, and the 4.7 million acre acquisition of the Timber Company, where he served five years as resource manager. He has been responsible for all aspects of timberland management and was tasked with improving company-wide timber harvest and contractor performance on all 6+ million acres of company owed timberland, as director of logistics and contractor performance.

Most recently, Mr. Sanderson served as senior vice president of timberland investments with US Trust, responsible for the timberland investment group where he acted as fiduciary investment manager. Duties included recruiting and managing high-net-worth clients in the timber investment space. He was responsible for growing the business by just under $1 billion in capital, and was awarded “Top Performer” four years in a row. Mr. Sanderson lead a team in the acquisition and ongoing management of approximately $100 million of new timber acquisitions per year, accountable for: strategic harvest planning, road design, reforestation planning, land sale, appraisal review, acquisition integration, P & L responsibility, budget/forecasting, timber marketing, technology implementation, process improvement, and regulatory compliance. His multi-regional experience together with fiduciary investment management experience is unique in the industry.

Mr. Sanderson received a Bachelor of Science in Forestry Resource Management from the University of Montana.

Mark Foley, CFA
Managing Director, timberland Investments

Mark Foley, CFA is a managing director at Domain Timber Advisors, a manager of timberland, timberland-related and environmental investments for public and private pension plans, corporations, foundations, endowments, and high-net-worth individuals.

Prior to joining Domain Timber Advisors, Mr. Foley’s career included several years as an analyst with Tasman Pulp & Paper, Fletcher Challenge Paper and PaperExchange. While at Fletcher Challenge Paper, Mr. Foley was on the transaction team for the $2.5 billion sale of the company to Norske Skog.

Mr. Foley also served as forestry portfolio analyst at GMO LLC from 2001 to 2008 where he worked directly with the firm’s partners in raising capital, marketing, structuring, and investing efforts related to the capitalization of eight private equity funds. He also developed and implemented a consistent, uniformed approach to analyze, monitor and report on domestic and international timber portfolios internally and externally. During his eight years with GMO, Mr. Foley was the senior transaction analyst relating to acquisitions valued at $2.5 billion and dispositions totaling $650 million with both a domestic and international focus.

Mr. Foley also performed in-depth quantitative and qualitative due diligence and investment valuations relating to potential acquisitions. He implemented a standardized monitoring and return analysis system, covering investment level, fund level and composite performance analysis, with an emphasis on understanding sources of value creation for their $3.3 billion timberland portfolio. Most recently at US Trust since 2009, Mr. Foley was responsible for the sourcing, acquisition, and for the on-going management of $370 million of timberland assets held in investment and trust accounts. Mr. Foley was also involved in the $720 million capital raising process at US Trust and Merrill Lynch from institutional and ultra high-net-worth clients.

Mr. Foley received a Bachelors in Commerce in Economics & Finance and a Masters in Commerce in Economics from the University of Auckland. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute in 2006.

Carolyn Seabolt

In this role she is primarily responsible for investment and general legal oversight, and assisting with compliance and related matters for the companies.

Ms. Seabolt began her legal career in 1995 with the Atlanta-based law firm of Wilson Strickland & Benson, practicing in the areas of general civil litigation, and later focusing on commercial real estate transactions. In 2001, she accepted an Associate Attorney position with global law firm Holland & Knight LLP in their commercial real estate group. Throughout her five-year tenure with the firm, she represented clients in a variety of commercial real estate matters, including office, industrial and retail leasing and development, cellular tower leasing and development and secured lending.

Her most recent career accolades include 11 years with an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization, specializing in acquiring and managing timberland, timberland-related, and environmental investments on behalf of public and private pension plans, corporations, foundations, endowments and high-net-worth individuals. As Associate General Counsel and General Counsel, respectively, she not only provided general legal oversight for the firm, but also counseled the company’s senior management team, managed their in-house legal team and led a diverse group of outside legal counsel.

Ms. Seabolt is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law.

Mr. Leardo began his career with the corporate value consulting group at Duff & Phelps. In this role, Mr. Leardo conducted valuation modeling, analysis and research, performed purchase price allocation and valuations of intangible assets and goodwill, and provided business enterprise value, market approach and transaction approach analyses. His work there also included pre-transaction corporate advisory analysis of stand-alone vs. merged operations.

In 2009, Mr. Leardo joined Domain Capital Advisors as an Associate, where he assisted with Real Estate and Alternative Investment asset management responsibilities, including investment due diligence, cash flow and return analysis, and quarterly investment report production. Mr. Leardo quickly advanced to his roles as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Operations.

In addition to his compliance and operational responsibilities at Domain Capital Advisors, Mr. Leardo combines an attention to detail with his unique strategic perspective to help ensure that the firm’s largest projects drive bottom line results. With a natural ability to build strong, positive relationships, Mr. Leardo also plays an integral role in the company’s client development activities.

Mr. Leardo holds a B.A. in business administration from Roanoke College and 
an M.B.A. from Fordham University Graduate School of Business. He is also a graduate of the Investment Banking Institute Financial Modeling and Valuation Training Program.

Stephanie Hammond

Stephanie Hammond is Vice President – Client Relations and Marketing at Domain Timber Advisors, LLC a division of Domain Capital Group, LLC. In this role, she is responsible for cultivating and maintaining new and existing relationships, developing solutions to meet client needs and driving strategy to support growth for the company.

Ms. Hammond launched her 25+ year career in 1991 as Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending for SunTrust Bank, where she provided analysis for corporate and individual debt structures, and made lending recommendations based on the bank’s credit standards. In 1997, she joined Scientific-Atlanta, a global provider of set-top boxes, end-to-end video distribution networks and video system integration. As Manager of Investor Relations, she successfully positioned the company to analysts and institutional investors, directly contributing to a 600% increase in stock price in only three years.

In 2000, Ms. Hammond became Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, a leading global financial services firm, where she was responsible for preserving, protecting and growing clients’ financial assets. Specifically, she partnered with high-net-worth individuals to create financial plans and implement appropriate asset allocation of their portfolios.

With a proven track record building strong relationships with analysts and clients while driving measurable value, Ms. Hammond became Director of Business Development and Client Services at an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization in 2012. Here, she supported a number of significant strategic growth initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on client relations and service excellence.

Ms. Hammond is an active member of the community and has served on the board for various committees and organizations, including Art Partners, The Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and The Lovett School.  Ms. Hammond earned her B.S. in Finance from the University of Florida and received a Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Finance from Georgia State University.

Mr. Naviwala began his career with the City of New York’s Office of Auditor General. As Management Auditor, Mr. Naviwala conducted complex and detailed operational and management audits, evaluated systems of internal control, management and operations, and improved audit methodologies through process analyses and reviews.

In early 2004, Mr. Naviwala joined KPMG, a global leader in audit, tax and advisory services, as a Senior Associate in the firm’s Asset Management Practice. With a diverse client base that included multiple fund structures and investment vehicles, Mr. Naviwala was responsible not only for the review and preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures, but also for the review and management of various SEC registration statements, valuation models, master feeder and partner allocations, and management and incentive fee allocation models.

Most recently, Mr. Naviwala added value as Assistant Vice President in the Private Equity Funds Service group of State Street Global Services, Alternative Investment Solutions. In this role, he managed client relationships at a strategic level, interacted with the firm’s leaders and directed the overall fund administration offering for some of their largest alternative investment clients. His eight year tenure with the firm included two years abroad in Singapore where he helped to build operations and enhance client relations as the company looked to grow its presence in the region.

A graduate from Brooklyn College, CUNY with a B.S. in Accounting, Mr. Naviwala is a New York state licensed CPA and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Reaves began his career in 2009 with Fountains Forestry, in eastern Tennessee as a forester, GIS Coordinator, and product manager of TwoDog Forest Inventory Software. In 2011, he joined an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization as Forestry GIS and Data Manager and was promoted to Director – Forest Operations and Information Systems, where he was responsible for coordinating forest operations and planning efforts.

Mr. Reaves earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, with a strong emphasis on forest analytics and geographic information systems from Virginia Tech University. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters (SAF), is an SAF Certified Forester (CF), and is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters (ACF).

Mr. Walker began his career in 2007 as a Research Analyst with Forisk Consulting, where he provided research and mapping support for the firm’s various biomass, bioenergy, and wood-using mill projects.

The following year he joined an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization as Portfolio Manager and Forestry Analyst, where he was responsible for property analytics used in the acquisition, disposition, and management of timberland investments. Specific responsibilities included cash flow analysis, scenario analysis and Internal Rates of Return (IRR) forecasting. Mr. Walker was also a key member of an investment team that closed more than 80 deals, representing in excess of $500M of institutional capital.

While in graduate school, Mr. Walker helped co-author the 2007 edition of Forisk Consulting and Timber Mart-South’s Timber Market Profiles & Rankings for the U.S. South, and was also a contributor to the second edition of Geographic Information Systems – Applications in Natural Resource Management, a textbook used in natural resource mapping classes.

Mr. Walker received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia, Warnell School Forestry and Natural Resources, with concentrations in Forestry and Forest Business, respectively. He is a registered forester in the State of Georgia and an active member of the Society of American Foresters and the Georgia Forestry Association.

Jack Izard

In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the analytics, strategic management and performance of the firm’s timberland investments. Additionally, he manages the annual appraisal process for the firm’s timberland holdings.

Mr. Izard’s passion for land management began in 2007 at Toa River and Triple Eye Farms where he was, and still is, Land Manager for the properties. Here, he manages the operations for three tracts of recreational timberland, totaling 1,800 acres, prepares timber harvest plans and develops and maintains comprehensive GIS maps for land management practices.

Mr. Izard also added value at the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center, where he examined long term plots through careful measurement and recording of various forest species, and Plum Creek Timber Company, where he calculated and analyzed PLF (Pounds per Linear Foot) measurements for timber loads in order to identify the average size and value for the remaining stock.

In 2012, Mr. Izard joined the University of Georgia’s Center for Forest Business in their Graduate Assistantship program. While in the program, his most notable accomplishments included the preparation and planning of the 2011 Timberland Investment Conference, an international event hosted by the center, and a contributing role to the development of the 2012 Private Landowner of Georgia Tax Handbook.

Most recently, Mr. Izard served as Portfolio Manager for an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization. His responsibilities included property analytics used in the acquisition and disposition of timberland and the conversion of timber properties to higher and better use (HBU) applications, as well as cash flow analysis, scenario analysis and return forecasting.

Mr. Izard holds a Bachelors in Environmental Thought and Practice from the University of Virginia and a Masters in Forest Resources with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Georgia. He has extensive experience in GIS mapping and is well versed in land management, wildlife studies and the environment.

Here, Mr. Owens provided consulting services to large-scale Timberland Investment Management Organizations and delivered conservation valuation of various properties, as well as mitigation banking feasibility opinions and mitigation
credit generation audits. Notably, Mr. Owens also spearheaded the launch of the firm’s Georgia field office to expand the company’s presence in the Southeast.

An experienced wildlife biologist and stream and wetland designer, Mr. Owens is an active member of the Georgia Associations of Environmental Professionals, the Wildlife Society, the National Speleological Society and the Southeastern Bat Diversity Network. He is also a member of the Technical Committee of the Georgia Environmental Restoration Association, a collaboration of environmental professionals who are active in an ecosystem restoration marketplace in Georgia.

Mr. Owens holds a B.S. in Forest Resources with a focus in Wildlife from the Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia.

Ms. Katz launched her career in 2005 as a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal with Seyfarth Shaw, LLP on the firm’s commercial lending team, where she performed a variety of commercial real estate transactions, including due diligence review and documentation as well as closing and post-closing activities.

Following a seven-year tenure with Seyfarth Shaw, Ms. Katz joined an Atlanta-based Timberland Investment Management Organization as Transactions Manager for the firm’s environmental assets team. Here she served as the main point of contact for the operating partners and managed all property-related transactions for the environmental impact projects.

With the ability to work across a wide variety of corporate-wide functions, Ms. Katz is a proactive problem-solver who’s skilled in the art of communication, negotiation and collaboration.
Ms. Katz holds a B.A. in Political Science from Florida State University and an MBA in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Georgia. She also earned her Paralegal Certificate from Emory University.
